Early Start is a summer bridge program for incoming freshman in STEM disciplines. Participants attend the 5-week summer residential program that offers the opportunity to earn up to six (6) hours of graded credit before their first fall semester begins. 

Any incoming freshman student admitted to the University of North Texas for the fall semester that plans to declare a major in science, technology, engineering or mathematics are eligible to apply.  First generation, low-income students are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Early Start offers a chance to:
    • earn 6 credit hours towards your major
    • live on campus during the summer term for free
    • make professional connections
    • meet fellow students freshman STEM students
