Facility Assistant
The Facilities Assistant (FA) position is a student employee position within the Department
of Housing and Residence Life which works as a member of a residence hall staff. The
FA’s primary responsibility is to work within a team and individually for the care
and maintenance of the residence hall interior spaces.
FAs are selected on the basis of their intellect, leadership qualities, willingness
to assume responsibilities, and ability to work on a team. To meet the needs of the
department, FAs must be able to adapt to changing assignments with little on-site
supervision, effectively keep records, and move or carry items in excess of 50 lbs.
In addition, FAs should be committed to their own personal growth and education.
FAs receive a monthly stipend, room and board as compensation for an average 15-hour
work week. FA responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Examining and reporting facility issues for residence hall interiors,
- Completing painting and similar maintenance projects,
- Removing and installing small fixtures,
- Repairing and moving furniture,
- Attending staff development and training, and
- Executing other tasks assigned by the supervisors or the Department of Housing and
Residence Life.
This position reports to the Coordinator for Housing Facilities.
