Discover the power of community in the UNT SERVES REAL community. In the UNT SERVES community at Kerr Hall students will engage in leadership and service activities that enable them to build lasting friendships, career networks and valuable experiences that empower them to be the next generation of leaders. Students in this wing come from a variety of backgrounds and majors, but share the same desire of making an impact in their community.
In this wing students will be empowered to shape the kind of world they desire. Students interested in government and nonprofit careers are encouraged to join this community. Students seeking majors in the College of Public Affairs and Community Service, Department of Political Science or those seeking the American Humanics Nonprofit Leadership Certificate or minor in the Leadership of Community and Nonprofit Organizations are also strongly encouraged to become a resident in this REAL community.
If you were to join the UNT SERVES REAL Community you would encounter:
- Community service projects created for students, by students
- Teambuilding and leadership activities to enhance your experience and skills
- Field trips to local/regional government and nonprofit organizations
- Discussions with faculty, staff and other students on events effecting our communities
- First chance to sign up for the UNT Alternative Spring Break
- An undergraduate seminar course focused on servant leadership and civic engagement taught in Kerr Hall
- Access to the Center for Leadership and Service and American Humanics satellite office in Kerr Hall
- Programs specific to those seeking careers in public service and the nonprofit sector
- Academic opportunities for study in the fields of nonprofit and volunteer management
